Rosscarbery Pony Trekking & Riding Centre

A great way to spend the day is going Pony Trekking. There are great scenic routes to journey on. All groups are accompanied. Rosscarbery Pony Trekking & Riding Centre is located in Burgatia, Rosscarbery. This is only a 10 minutes drive from Glandore. The trails can include experiences of beauty and history such as Bohonagh Stone Circle, Castlefreke and Rathbarry Castles and Antiquities. Within 15miles:
Clonakilty, Co Cork

'Clon' is a fantastic little town, with plenty of restaurants, cafes and pubs. You will pass through Clon on the way towards Glandore if you are coming from Cork. Try some Clonakilty Black Pudding!

Within 20miles:
Baltimore, Co Cork
Baltimore is a sea-side harbor with some great off shore excursions, plus some nice pubs, a pizza place and a nice walk out to the beacon which is on the point of the harbor inlet.

Schull, Co Cork
Schull is a great sea-side village with plenty of restaurants, cafes and quaint shops. It is well worth a day trip or a morning/afternoon trip.

Mizen Head

Amidst a 4hr training session on the bike, out around the Mizen Head, is where I asked KJC to become KJM!


If you have the time and the strength...head off the road by foot and check out the first of 10 tower houses build by the O'Mahoney Clan

Within 50miles:
Cork City
Too much to try to write down all that there is to do in Cork City, but check out the link for some ideas. A must see is the English Market which is in the heart of the City. It is a covered food market operating since 1788. 

Kinsale
Kinsale is a super harbor town south of Cork City. It is worth a visit if you have the time. There are tons of boutique shops, cafes, and restaurants. You can head even further south to the old head, which have some spectacular clefs and ocean views.  Unless you pay the extortionary greens fees, you make it out on the main body of the head, but there are great views from the neck of the head before you would enter the golf club.

The Wild Atlantic Way (WAW) encompasses West Cork, but also stretches up the whole of the west coast of Ireland.

Lagoon Activity Centre- Rosscarbery

The Model Railway Village- Clonakilty
Whether you are seaching for a fun activity for the kids, want extra entertainment on your family holiday or planning a school tour or active retirement tour, the model village is a must see for all. Walking into the model village, you step back in time and see life as it was in the 1940's. Relax in the unique tea room set on one of the authentic train carriages with a view of Clonakilty bay or take a magical tour of Clonakilty aboard their very own road train, Choo Choo.
